Encouragement by Emmanuel Kutsu

“Put all your faith in God” because of events that happen in our lives. I believe last year was full of surprises. We are still experiencing a pandemic, racial inequality, riots and police brutality. Those moments may have disrupted plans and events we had for the year, but those moments helped each one of us work on our faith.

I’ve chosen to title my word of encouragement “Put all your faith in God” because of events that happen in our lives. I believe last year was full of surprises. We are still experiencing a pandemic, racial inequality, riots and police brutality. Those moments may have disrupted plans and events we had for the year, but those moments helped each one of us work on our faith.

Hebrews 11:1 says that “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen”. We don’t know what 2021 holds for us but we can stand sure that if we put our faith in God everything will go smoothly no matter how bad the road is. In Hebrews 11:6 we are told “without faith is impossible to please God”. In this case, to serve God we need to have faith and believe he rules over every circumstance. We are told to have faith by Jesus Christ in Mathew 21:21 “Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.” If we proclaim with faith that 2021 will be a great year and we don’t doubt what we said God will make this year be good for everyone.

Now that we are told to have faith, how do we receive faith? Hebrews 12:2 says that “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God”. To receive faith we must read the bible and apply the words to our lives and Jesus who is the master to our lives will help us polish our faith in God for he is on the right hand of the father interceding for us.

In addition to all this we should take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one (Ephesians 6:16). With faith as our shield and God on our side anything the evil one throws at us we shall be protected by God,  and we should use the shield of faith we have gained from reading the word of God.

In closing we should start 2021 with a positive mindset and trust in God that everything will be done by his will.
